Samantha Harris is leaving Dancing With the Stars. Harris, who co-hosted the reality hit with Tom Bergeron for the past eight seasons, said that she will instead focus on other projects like her correspondent duties at The Insider, which she says have expanded in the past year, and her gig at Entertainment Tonight Weekend.

Harris told People magazine, “I interned at Entertainment Tonight 15 years ago, the summer after my sophomore year at Northwestern and I dreamed of working in the same space as hosts Mary Hart and Mark Steines and now I’m living that dream.”

Here are some internet comments:

  • From Angie on Usmagazine.com: “THANK THE HEAVENS! She’s pretty, but she is a horrible host. BRING BACK DREW LACHEY!!!!! He rocked!!”
  • From Swarnava on Usmagazine.com: “Of course I’ll still watch. Do you actually think anyone watched the show because of her? Yeah right. She sounded like a man & was sooo annoying. Thank goodness she’s gone!”
  • From Melissa on Usmagazine.com: “I’m so happy she’s leaving. I have nothing against her, but I didn’t like her on the show. Hopefully they get someone who can keep up with Tom’s jokes. Samantha wasn’t funny.”

Diane needs your help!  Should she have sent a message to her daughter’s friend on Facebook?

    Dear Storm & Chris,

My 17 year old daughter and I heard you talking about Facebook confessions and how many friends people have on Facebook.  It sort of reignited a disagreement we’ve been having at our house, so we decided to write to you and see what other parents had to say about it.

My daughter recently went on a date with a young man and at the end of the evening, as he was dropping her off, I heard him say “See you on facebook” to her has he was leaving.  I didn’t have much time to speak with him before or after the date so a couple of days later, I reached out to him on facebook to say hello.  Well, my daughter was FURIOUS.  She says I humiliated her and that I have no business talking to any of her friends on facebook and that I should never have said anything to him.  All I said was hello!  And to top it off, my husband AGREED with her!  Is it really that big of a deal?

We’ll be listening to hear what other parents and teens have to say about this.

    Thanks!

    Diane

Let me first say that I am not typing this to get out of the ticket.  I violated the posted speed limit and I must pay the fine.  The last speeding ticket I received was over 7 years ago and I was a commuter between Gainesville and Ocala for over 5 years.  Yes on occasion, I make mistakes and today I didn’t pay close enough attention to my speed.  Although, my observation since my ‘incident’ is there seems to be an unusually high number of law enforcement vehicles on the road.  My other observation is that there are only 3 days left in the month.  Coincidence?  Be safe on the roads and pay attention to your speed.

Also interesting to point out in this recession economy, that attending driving school no longer reduces the amount of your fine!

A limited number of tickets are available for the “From Paris with Love” movie gala and screening anchored by John Travolta and Kelly Preston. Organizers on Wednesday also revealed some of the prizes in the event’s Parisian-themed auctions.

The event starts at 6 p.m. Feb. 4 and serves as an Ocala sneak peek of Travolta’s new thriller, “From Paris with Love.” It also is a fundraiser for several Travolta-picked local causes. Tickets are $300 and can be purchased at the CFCC Foundation office or through www.cfccfoundation.org/FromParisWithLove.htm!

Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien did not communicate throughout Tonight Show-gate. Leno sat down with Oprah Winfrey for an interview that airs today in which he discussed the heated late night situation at NBC.

He told Oprah, “I haven’t talked to him through all this. No, I haven’t.” Leno said that he wanted to phone Conan, “but it didn’t seem appropriate . . . I don’t know. I think it — let things cool down and maybe we’ll talk, you know.”
