Harry Connick Jr. may be the best mentor ever

This week we loved Lee and Mike, Crystal was just okay and Curly Sue needs to go home.   SO does Aaron.  But what does our Listener Panel of Judge, Natalie, think?

Just look at her.  Isn’t she darling?

Anyhoo, on to the judging.

American Idol Episode Recap: The Top 5 Revealed

Curly Sue finds himself in the bottom three once again and we’re pretty sure America plans to get rid of him next week, but last night it was Cinnabon who sang her swan song.  Also, we are baffled by America’s continued love for little Aaron.  *SIGH*

‘American Idol’ results: Top 7 trimmed to Top 6 as Tim Urban gets sent home

Teflon can’t stop everything from sticking.

Notorious mobster John Gotti learned that when he finally got convicted. And last night, Tim Urban, the young Texas singer with the wide-eyed smile and floppy hair, learned that when his luck ran out on “American Idol.”

The 20-year-old college student, who earned the nickname “Teflon Tim” because of his amazing ability to survive week after week of flat performances and brutally harsh criticism, saw his unexpected journey towards the top several spots of this marathon singing competition come to an abrupt end after an elimination show that stretched about 20 minutes over its scheduled two-hour time slot.

In case your DVR cut out on you last night, you now know that season 9 will continue on without Zac Efron Tim Urban in the Top 6.

You’re probabaly sick of hearing us say how much we love Crystal Bowersox.  But we can’t help it.

Look.  Here she is.  Isn’t she fabulous?

Our Listener Panel of Judge, Natalie, judges the top 7 in all her judginess.  Look.  Here she is.  Isn”t she darling?

Our faves from last night (including Crystal’s heartrending performance of “People Get Ready” and Lee’s excellent rendition of “The Boxer”): 4.21.10.2.American Idol Top 7 Best

American Idol: The Top 7 Revealed

Without further ado, we bid adieu to:

Andrew Garcia
Ryan wasted little time getting to the most obvious elimination. I, like the judges, loved Andrew’s initial audition and the remarkable acoustic cover of Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up,” but Andrew never lived up to that in later rounds. (Of course, it didn’t help that the judges never let him forget that performance.) But his choosing to sing “You Give Me Something” as his exit song just further demonstrated how far he’s fallen from where he started. That said, it was miles better than “Hound Dog” last night.

Katie Stevens
Although she’s been weak through much of the season, I am a little shocked that this was Katie’s curtain call. (Count your lucky stars, Aaron.) She struggled to get through her exit song, “Let It Be,” which made her sound like she didn’t even deserve to be in the finals. She obviously has grown so much during the competition, but, because of her age, she was always just a notch below this season’s top tier of talent.

Newsflash: We still love Crystal Bowersox.  In other news, Andrew Garcia needs to go home.  Right now.

Our Listener Panel of Judge, Natalie,  judges the top 9 Idols as only she can:

Crystal Bowersox sang “Saved” and we love, love, LOVE her!  At this point, she can do no wrong.  We also really enjoyed Lee’s performance of “A Little Less Conversation.” 4.14.10.1.American Idol Top 9 Best

Aaron, Cinnabon and Andrew Garcia were weak.  We think this may be the end of the road for poor, confused Cinnabon and for Andrew Garcia, who America really should have put out of our misery weeks ago. 4.14.10.2.American Idol Top 9 Worst

Just give the prize to Crystal Bowersox so we can all get on with our lives…

Our Listener Panel of Judge, Natalie,  judged the top 9 Idols as only she can:

Sure, she looks sweet, but you have to be careful…

Crystal Bowersox gave us an amazing version of “Come Together” and we LOVED Casey’s “Jealous Guy”. 4.07.10.2.American Idol Top 9 Best

In other news, Teflon Tim and Andrew Garcia gave us a heaping helping of cheese and Lee Dewyze baffled us with his lost bagpiper. 4.07.10.3.American Idol Top 9 Worst

Alas, Didi, America was ready to put you out of your misery.  And ourselves.

So, our Listener Panel of Judge, Natalie, called it this week!  She accurately predicted that Didi would get the old heave-ho and that Teflon Tim would live to fight another day!
