A trip to Walmart was no day at the beach for one shopper.

Sandi McMillin and her sister, Karla Vogt, headed to a Walmart in Eugene, Oregon on Sunday — where the temperature was pushing 90 degrees.

To fight the heat, McMillin dressed down, choosing to head to the store in a pair of red shorts and a turquoise bikini top.

Minutes into the trip, McMillin says a Walmart employee instructed her to either put a shirt on or leave the store, citing a possible health code violation.

Man proposes to girlfriend on TV

CLEVELAND, Feb. 27 (UPI) — An Ohio woman expecting to see her boyfriend featured in a television commercial got something she didn’t expect, she says — a marriage proposal.

Dee Horton was at her job as a hair stylist at a Cleveland salon waiting to watch the airing of the commercial last week, WJW-TV, Cleveland, reported.

“(He’s) supposed to be some superhero in it,” she said just before it aired.

As cowards stood by and watched a robbery unfold in the city center of Northampton, a crime fighting hero emerged in the form of an elderly woman armed with a handbag. The unlikely hero used her bag to foil the robber’s plans of raiding a jewellers.

Whilst many were happy to keep a distance, call the police and even film it , the elderly woman took actions into her own hands by slamming the robbers repeatedly on the head.

As the robbers tried to flee, she went on the pursuit and managed to knock one off his getaway bike. Bystanders and passers-by inspired by ‘super-gran’ then joined in and managed to restrain one of them.

Police say all four men aged between 18 and 39 have been arrested in connection with the incident and a police spokesman said: ‘The offenders were disturbed by members of the public and fled the area without taking anything’.

Supermoms feel inadequate

Research from the parenting website Netmums revealed that nine out of ten mothers constantly compare themselves with others, with 40 percent believing their fellow moms are better parents. Only one in four of the 5,000 mothers polled considered themselves to be better parents. But the constant pressure to appear to be supermoms is leading many to twist the truth, the survey revealed. Popular topics for white lies are parenting problems, financial difficulties, television watching and the amount of quality time spent with children or partners.

This is a kookaburra’s nest, with four babies.  A video camera was in a fixed place outside the nest looking in, so as not to obstruct the mama’s access to the babies.  At about 2:30 or so into the video, the mama kookaburra notices the camera and starts giving it the old stink eye.  After a number of suspicious glances, she gets closer to investigate.  GREAT shots of the babies!
