Howard Stern has confirmed that Fox is interested in hiring him to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol — and admitted that he’s considering taking the job. On Monday (February 8th) morning, Stern told listeners of his satellite radio show, “There’s not a better job on the planet than judging a  karaoke contest. It might be possible, we’ll see.”

He added that, “They’d have to pay me a ton of dough, because I already make a ton of dough.” The shock jock, who frequently discusses Idol on his show, mused about a potential contract, saying, “A $100 million to judge a karaoke contest? Yeah, I think I would do that show for $100 million. It would be the best thing that happened to me. What a cush job: $100 million for four months. Who wouldn’t take that?”

  • Stern concluded, “If I do say so myself, I can’t imagine anyone else but me replacing [Cowell]. I mean, how else are they going to make that show work? Who knows how to broadcast and who knows how to be interesting? And who’s not afraid to speak their mind?”

BUT wait, there’s more!!  Here’s another possible replacement :

GUY OSEARY TO JOIN IDOL? Sources told the New York Daily News that Madonna’s right-hand man Guy Oseary is in the running to fill Cowell’s role on the next season of “American Idol.”

Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about Guy:

He quickly rose through the ranks to chairman of the label, developing a roster of artists that included Prodigy, Alanis Morissette, Deftones, The Wreckers, Paul Oakenfold, Michelle Branch, and soundtracks including The Wedding Singer, The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, Austin Powers I & II, as well as releasing soundtracks on Quentin Tarantino’s films including Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2. Oseary guided Maverick to sell over 100 million albums worldwide and secured its spot as one of the industry’s leading boutique record labels.

As part of Maverick Films, Oseary produced Twilight, New Moon (2009 film) and executive produced Rob Zombie’s first two ventures into feature filmmaking (House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects). He also serves as executive producer on Last Call With Carson Daly[1], which is currently in its 7th year, as well as on NBC’s New Year’s Eve which is also hosted by Carson.
