Police: Calif. robber holds up 11 people, gets $6

THERMAL, Calif. (AP) — They say crime doesn’t pay. For one robber in California, it did – but not much. Authorities in Riverside County say a woman with a gun robbed 11 customers at a market and got away with $6.

A Sheriff’s Department statement says the woman was armed with a semi-automatic pistol when she went to La Chicanita Market in the town of Thermal on Tuesday afternoon.

Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela says the woman confronted 10 customers in the store and also demanded money from one person who was entering the market. She then fled in an old car.

Nobody was hurt.

Average women spend $13k each on makeup in their lifetime

NEW YORK – An average woman will spend 13,000 dollars on makeup during her lifetime, a new survey has found.

The UK’s Daily Mail reported, according to the study a woman spends about 180 dollars every 12 months on cosmetics for an average 65-year life span, reports The New York Daily News.

The average breakdown per lifetime: 1466 dollars on lipstick, 3120 dollars on mascara, and 2274 dollars on eye shadow.

Conducted by UK cosmetic store Superdrug, the study also revealed that 70 percent of women never leave the house without their most precious makeup tools, and half of those women said they wear make-up 24/7.

Researchers polled 3,000 women to get the results.

“It’s no surprise that the cost of all our lipsticks and essential makeup adds up to such a staggering figure,” the store’s beauty director, Sara Wolverson, said of the results.

“Women use makeup as a tool to boost their confidence and as a way to make themselves feel fashionable and youthful.” (ANI)

Surprise!  It’s a baby!

An unexpected delivery Thursday threw a shocking twist into a Harrodsburg woman’s “To Do” list.

Kelly Bottom, 32, said she was doing laundry about 2 p.m. when she felt some discomfort, thinking she needed to use the bathroom. When the pain intensified, she said she realized she was actually in labor with a child she did not know she was carrying.

Bottom said she delivered a baby boy on the floor of her bathroom, even cutting the umbilical cord herself. What she did next was perhaps only slightly less remarkable.

Instead of calling for an ambulance or driving to the hospital, Bottom said her first thought was that her 7-year-old needed to be picked up at school. Bottom called the child’s father, Ronnie Sims, who was at work in Perryville, but he was operating heavy machinery and could not hear the phone.

“I had tried to call (Ronnie), but I dropped the phone and he wouldn’t have been able to pick up anyway,” Bottom said. “I knew there was nobody else who could go pick (my son) up so I cleaned myself up the best I could and went to the school.”

After that, Bottom went to Sims’ mother’s house and debuted the new bundle for Grandma.

“She came up to the door with the baby all wrapped up and my mother said ‘Whose baby is that,’” Sims said. “When Kelly said, ‘It’s mine,’ Mom said you could have blown her over.”

Not surprisingly, the story of the surprise delivery has been greeted with disbelief from most who have heard it.

“When we first got to the emergency room, the woman there thought I meant I had him a few weeks and not a few hours before,” Bottom said.
